Make a Wish

A little something I made in Illustrator.

I've been busy taking care of the Toot and organizing a playgroup. This has been interesting and good for me. This will be the first time I've tried to start a group of any kind. Usually I'm the joiner and not the starter of any group or club. I've stepped up to bat and I'm looking forward to meeting with other mom's and their children. I did this for my Toot because she's so eager to make friends with children at the park and most times we never see the same children again. So I'm starting a group with the parents and grandparents who attend the Parent Education class we go to every week.

The Afro Dream

Something I played with for an hour or so. Reminded me of a Charlton Heston movie, "The Omega Man". I'm tired and I'm off to sleep.

What's for Dinner Mom?

Today, my darlings, we will be having a "Cheesy Pasta Dinner".

I got this recipe from "Tammy's Recipes" blog. I've been a regular there because her recipes are quick and easy to make.... good too! She's inspired me with my homemaking and motherhood. Here is the recipe.

It was already delicious at this stage

The great part of this recipe is all the different vegetables in it.

So easy to make.

I'm taking advantage of this wonderful cool weather and making a recipe that requires the oven.

Very tasty dish. I had most of the ingredients, except for the ground beef and cheddar cheese.

The Zoo

One of my favorite Disney movies is "Jungle Book" and now a favorite of the Toot's.
(image of Jungle Book movie has been removed)

The Toot standing in front of the orangoutang compound. It turned out to be a perfect day for a walk at the zoo. Nice and cloudy, and cool!

Going up on Etsy

This is a new piece which I've finally finished. It'll be a part of the Dream Landscape series in my Etsy store.

This bottom piece I've already shown on a previous post, but I didn't put it up on Etsy because I wanted to put them up together. They should be up by this weekend.

I will be selling the original pieces for these two landscapes.

As for the head portrait below (previous post), I will be selling as a print.

Embellishments

I'm not done. This is reminding me of an old black and white horror movie I was fascinated with as a young girl. I hadn't thought of this movie until I did this piece. The movie was about a scientist who kept body parts alive. One of the characters was a female head he kept alive on a metal tray. Her head and neck were bandaged except for her pretty face. She could talk too. Anyway, I don't remember anything else. Does anyone remember the name of the movie with this description?

Fright Night was my favorite show to watch, with the host Larry Vincent SEEEEEEEYmooooourrrr

Eureka! I've figured it out!

This piece has gone through different stages and mediums. It started off as a sketch in my sketchbook. I then scanned the image (no color). Then worked on the background in Illustrator. I then had to move into a different application because Illustrator wasn't giving me the results I wanted. So I went to Painter and I hit the jackpot of painting and drawing applications. This was fun and I've got to stop here because it's getting late. I will be continuing tomorrow. It's addicting! I know I won't be able to sleep and may even dream about what I can do next. Fun dreams for sure.

10th Annual El Camino College Powwow - Torrance CA

If I had known that we were allowed to take pictures I would have brought my camera. These photos were taken by my brother in-law. Thanks Guzie and Vicky for letting me use your photos!
Vicky is from the CalTrans tribe and Guzie is from the MTA tribe.

Campy Dames

Something from my sketchbook.
I'm back and feeling a lot better. There are days when I just feel restricted and it takes me a while to figure out what to do to get myself out of it.

We went to a Powwow on Saturday and I get centered when I hear the drumming. The atmosphere is very calm and nonthreatening. I will post photos tonight.

Weary

It's time to go to bed. Eight hours of sleep will get me out of this mood. Good Night!

Green around the gills

I will have to be honest. I have been too tired and a bit lazy to post lately. This past weekend was a rough one on our sleeping schedule. The Gorilla went to three baseball games and the Toot and I went with him to the third game on Monday.

Yesterday I started an exercise class at the local community center. Ugggg! I'm out of shape and in dire need of getting back into shape. This was the first time I felt nauseous after exercising. It was a good thing that the Gorilla and the Toot came by and drove me back home. I trudged on to the bathroom and chucked my way back to recovery around the porcelain bowl. And I'll be going back for more next week.

Today I'm sore, but I feel great. I got plenty of sleep and I finished another painting. A photo may be up tomorrow.

I've also finished the books that I've been reading and it feels strange to not have anything new to read. Since I don't want to fork out any money to buy full price, I may stop at the Goodwill to see what they have.
