Making Time for Essence

I woke up realizing that it's up to me keep this blog alive. My life has evolved and expanded any many good ways since I first started this blog. I am grateful. So there will be many good changes and glimpses into my life. Like the song..."When there's a smile in your heart there's no better place to start".

Dia de los Muertos at Self Help Graphics 2013 / 40th Anniversary

We participated in their workshops to make these calaveras. We met every Saturday of October for three hours until the day of the procession from Mariachi Plaza to Self Help Graphics on Nov 2nd. We had a wonderful time. These calaveras are all paper mache.

Back to Making Art

New painting I'm working on.
New computer and a lot of relearning on how to get my work up on this blog and various other sites.
I enjoy the learning.
I'm also making changes with the look of this blog.
Keeping it Simple.

Being Calm

We are well into the summer break and it's been going well. We've made this collage with tissue and "Yes" paste.

The warm days have been making my thoughts sometimes muddled or rather fragmented. I'll start a project and go on to another. An hour later I will go back to finish my other project and finish that up. I am getting things done. This is new for me and I'll keep doing this as long as I see that I get things done.

I've been waking up early for a while now. 5:20 am. I read my Daily Reflections and Twenty-Four Hours a Day. I glass of cool water while I read. There is silence and my cup of coffee.

I am also beginning a yoga routine since a knee pain started about 3 months ago.
I pray and be silent.

"Mo and Mole" a Painting

I've been busy painting and here are some images of what I finished today. It feels great! Great!! To be painting every week for several hours. Painting is what I have to do to be well spiritually. Yes, I've been focusing on my spiritual journey and my painting is flourishing. It's all for myself and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. What freedom!!

Watercolors are comfortable for me so I'm challenging myself to work larger. There will be a couple more female images coming. A landscape ready for me to add color. I'm hooked. Any time I have between taking the Toot to school, homework, lunches, dinner, laundry, and taking care of the home I'm either drawing in a sketchbook or creating something to keep me from growing anxious because I'm not painting.
I find myself waiting a lot for my girl..classes and other stuff. So I carry my art supplies in a canvas bag and keep at it. Ideas, sketches, thoughts. From that a painting is born.
