It's Hot!!!!!

I'm still painting. This heat is just wearing me out.
I won't be able to post any paintings until I finish this project.

Yesterday I was at Office Depot and found out that they no longer sell the plastic dust covers for printers. I went online and couldn't find anything at any of the other office supply stores. I've been reading some of my favorite "Simple Living" blogs and I had forgotten that I could sew one up and not have to spend any money. It's a simple job, but I have to do it while someone watched the Itty.

I've been reading a lot about bloggers who are not playing into the consumerism being shoved into our faces. I enjoy reading what they are doing to keep themselves from buying more things. I like the idea of sewing your own clothes. Back to basics! I don't have much time to figure out how to add the links to this post, but you can find more info in the links I have listed on my blog. Try.."Consumption Rebellion" and "Down-to-Earth" to see what I'm talking about. It's nice to know that there are other people who feel the same way I do. I've got a lot to learn and alter, but it's nice to know that I won't be alone making some changes.
I also know that I'm doing fine when it comes to appreciating the simple everyday chores I have to do here at home.

Here's a dress I got for the Bitty at St.Vincent's. It was obviously sewn by someone and I liked it. It looks great on the little one. It reminded me of when I was a girl and I received clothes that were sewn by various family members. I wore them proudly. Labels were never important to me and they still aren't. Especially now that I know how most of our clothes are being made by exploited families in other countries and sometimes this country.

She looks great in her little dress.

It's getting late. Time to sleep. Good Night!

Morning Art before the bed bug cries.

Had to get up early this morning to get some work done on my latest project. Have to get up early in the morning to have some quiet time to paint. The little Itty has been a big motivation to get myself painting again. Maybe it was the feeling of not having time to do anything for myself. This scared me so much that I found time.
I am so grateful.

My camera is back!

Hurray!
This is great news and we are all so happy that it's back in perfect condition. Time to take pictures again. I was ready to fork out a load of money to replace my camera, but the Gorilla insisted on taking it to get fixed. He took it to the Canon Service Center and from there it got shipped to Illinois. It was gone for over a month, but they fixed it! Another Hurray for the Gorilla! Hurray for the Canon Factory Service Center!

Thelma

This is my good friend Thelma with my Itty Bitty. This picture was taken almost a year ago on her 103rd Birthday. Thelma is in a nursing home now. We went to visit her today. I am so happy to say that she's hanging in there and that she recognised us both. The last time I saw her she had a hard time remembering my name.

Thelma was always so proud to say she was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She used to share with me so many stories of her youth and her four marriages. She outlived all of her husbands and a son.

Thelma was my sunshine when I walked around with a cloud over me for many years. Even today as she lay in her bed she put a smile on my face when she said, "I do the best I can with what I have. I just let life take its course. I can't fight it. I have no regrets. I've had a good life."

I have learned so much from her when it came to spirituality. Thelma was self educated by reading a lot of insightful books. She believes in God and not in a particular system of faith.

There was a time when I would say that Thelma was my only friend and that was enough. She just made me feel better about myself and life. life and people weren't as bad as I thought after spending an afternoon with Thelma.

I just wanted to include her in my blog because she deserves to be acknowledged for being a beautiful being in this world. I Love You Thelma!

Getting work done

Our old truck is not well right now. We had to take it to the mechanic and leave it there for a major repair. This is going to set us back a bit. We've been hit with these set backs (back to back) for a few months now. It's getting tough trying to stay optomistic. We've just got to though. We always mangage to get back on our feet again.

I have a lot of work ahead of me and I need to concentrate on getting some projects done. So, I may not be posting for a couple of days. I need to focus on a new painting I've been commissioned to do and also getting some artwork up on my Etsy shop. I will post here when I get my shop open. I did get my Bio finished for Etsy and it's up in my profile. That's a relief!

Sorry no new photos. My camera is also down. It's been at the repair shop for about a month now. I dropped it when we were at Disneyland. That hurt. I have been useing my old photos to fill the gap. I miss my camera. Whaaaaaaaa!

Stay positive! OM!!!!!!

Family portrait....Oh, and going public w/my blog.

I've decided to go public with my blog. I just had to take a deep breath and Let Go! The Gorilla gave me a nudge.

As for my statement........It's getting there. This heat wave is not helping me.
