From Bookcase to Sandbox

I'm back! I've finally finished the sandbox and here are some progression photos.

Here is the bookcase before I cut off about two feet from one end. The back was a 1/8th inch plywood, which I removed.

I added slats to give the box support. The white is primer and the baby blue is the final color.

Gave the Toot a section to paint herself. This lasted a few strokes before she moved on to another activity involving dirt and water.

Five $5. bags of sand made specifically for sandboxes was all I needed to fill the box. I did line the inside with a plastic tarp to keep the sand contained at the bottom and in the box. I started this in February and finished in April. It did take me a while because of the overcast days we were having during these months. With the Toot's classes and potty training I was a bit busy.

Found this caterpillar in the bushes when I was pulling weeds one sunny morning. It's a beauty!

Oh! Potty Training Camp is completed and with great success!

  1. I love the sandbox. That's so fantastic that you built it yourself!!! So good to see a post from you. I've missed you!

I've always had a soft spot for caterpillars. The Dalai Lama has mentioned that he has a phobia of them...I think that is funny. :)

    Have a wonderful week. Peace.

  2. Thanks, tantra flower.
I did woodworking and custom furniture for nine years back in the 90's.

I had to sit myself down and finally put these photos up. I have been neglecting the blog and I'm going to try to get back to posting again. We're kind of getting back into a routine here at home.
I check your blog regularly and have been enjoying your posts. You could say I'm sitting in the back of the room and enjoying what others are writing. I'm looking to get inspired...again.

I liked that bit of info about the Dalai Lama. Nice to know that he has some imperfections. Rats make my toes curl. Photos or tv images of rats. My toes are curling in as I type this.

    Thanks for stopping by!
